The dual‑robot cantilever welding workstation is an overhead‑hanging large‑stroke collaborative welding system. It is designed for wide and heavy workpieces in building steel‑structure and bridge heavy‑industry, such as H‑beam main girders, box components, crane girders and bridge plate units. Two 6‑axis welding robots are suspended on the longitudinally travelling cantilever beam. They can operate synchronously in collaboration or work independently. The cantilever layout frees up floor space and allows direct overhead‑crane loading for mass production of large steel parts.
The workstation integrates two sets of 6‑axis welding robots. Each robot features 2010 mm maximum reach, 6 kg payload and ±0.05 mm repeat positioning accuracy. The cantilever beam is driven by rack‑and‑pinion and linear‑guide for long‑stroke X‑axis movement. It is equipped with dual MIG/MAG welding power sources, water‑cooled anti‑collision torches, laser vision seam‑tracking system, torch cleaning‑wire‑cutting station and integrated electrical control cabinet. Total power reaches 30 KW, with average daily welding output of 140‑200 meters.
Laser vision seam‑tracking compensates cutting and assembly tolerances to perform stable fillet welds, lap welds and multi‑layer multi‑pass welding. Dual robots can handle separate welding zones simultaneously to accelerate cycle time. Single‑robot mode is available for small‑batch orders for high operational flexibility. Since the cantilever structure does not occupy workpiece‑placement floor area, workpiece positioning and adjustment become much easier.
Modular assembly simplifies on‑site commissioning. Cantilever travel and beam span can be custom‑made. It delivers consistent weld quality and lower rework rate, easing the shortage of skilled welders.
