Heat shields and metal inner cavities are high-precision thermal protection components. The surface roughness of inner and outer walls directly affects bonding and assembly performance, requiring extremely uniform grinding quality. Due to limited inner cavity operating space and irregular roundness errors, traditional manual grinding struggles to maintain consistent roughness. It frequently causes insufficient grinding, over-grinding, poor product uniformity and low productivity, failing to meet mass precision assembly standards.

To solve these precision processing challenges, Truman independently developed an automatic grinding workstation dedicated to heat shields and metal inner cavities. The multi-functional workstation adapts to various workpiece sizes and performs precise grinding on heat shield inner walls and metal cavity outer walls, ensuring surface roughness fully complies with industrial bonding process requirements.

The workstation adopts a mature rotating platform and robotic grinding collaboration system. After automatic centering positioning, the workpiece rotates steadily with the servo platform, while the grinding robot performs continuous vertical finishing procedures. Equipped with a 35mm stroke force control unit, the system automatically compensates for workpiece roundness deviations and precisely stabilizes grinding pressure, achieving uniform roughness across the entire curved surface.

The workstation uses pneumatic vibration grinders paired with customized emery abrasives, stably outputting standard surface roughness for high-precision bonding pretreatment. Universal fixture design unifies the base size of different workpieces. A single set of rotating and transfer fixtures supports most product specifications, greatly reducing fixture replacement costs and simplifying model switching and equipment debugging.

This fully automated unmanned grinding solution eliminates manual instability errors, significantly improves processing efficiency and product qualification rate, and reduces workpiece scrap risks. It provides a highly reliable, standardized and intelligent surface treatment solution for thermal protection component pre-bonding finishing.
